This is a Germanic Spring Goddess also called Ostara or Oestera. She is also sometimes associated with Celtic or Norse traditions. Her name is pronounced like Yow-ster or Ay-ster.
Eostre is literally the Goddess of spring. She brings growth and renewal on many levels and is said to bring fertility to humans, animals and the earth herself. We still rely on the earth for food and sustenance so her presence is just as vital as it ever was. She brings the plants out of their hibernation and she who causes new plants to grow.
It is said that she mates with the sun god at this time and gives birth 9 months later so there is a deep symbolism of fertility associate with her. Life as we know it would not exist without Goddesses like this.
